It’s good to hear these opinions, as we are trapped in the valley of AI hype. I started a work of science fiction in about 2016, where artificial intelligence played a crucial role. Having considered rather deeply the relationship between life and intelligence, and the likely path of emergence of an artificial life form, I see the role of large language models as nothing more than a necessary component of a much larger system.
Commoditization is the enemy of technological advancement, when the focus of investment turns from innovation to profit taking. This is the current state of AI.
